GPS, e-LORAN, and the Chinese
Dana Goward "Getting Ahead of the BANG!
Dana Goward, President of the Resilient Navigation & Timing Foundation, and Rob Jodrie, Syncworks’ Technical Support Manager, discuss the pressing need for additional signals. Currently, the US relies on a single point of failure for our GPS signal. Both Mr. Goward and Mr. Jodrie agree that fiber optics and terrestrial broadcast sources will fortify our system’s resilience and security.
Mr. Goward explains the historic Chinese military motivation for the all-in commitment for their LORAN system, and both men firmly believe that it’ll take a wake-up call akin to the events of 9/11 for the nation and the industry to acknowledge and address the fixable flaws in our GPS infrastructure.
